Shelley

These are unsubstantiated but it was said by Patrick Taylor in his article in the SHBG newsletter "Eavesdropper" No 17 of Autumn 2000 that: As we saw with Nayland, here we have two candidates close to the church. Church Cottage has the right name but is perhaps too domestic in scale. Chapel House, however, is larger, jettied and 15th Century. Possibles.

The illustrations that follow are of Chapel House from the files of Patrick Taylor.

The Historic England listing for Chapel House is here.

I have found no evidence of gilds or a gildhall in Shelley.
